Chronic bronchitis is a long-term inflammation of the bronchial tubes, which are the airways that carry air to and from the lungs. Medications such as bronchodilators, which help open the airways, and corticosteroids, which reduce inflammation, may be prescribed to manage symptoms. Inhaled medications, such as long-acting beta-agonists or anticholinergics, can also be used to improve airflow. Pulmonary rehabilitation, including exercise training and education, can enhance lung function and quality of life. In some cases, oxygen therapy may be needed for individuals with severe lung impairment. Regular medical check-ups are essential to monitor the condition and adjust treatment as needed.
